India Today Survey: TN Best Performing State

In a year when the economy has been down and ‘ravaged’ by the Covid-19 novel Coronavirus pandemic, Tamil Nadu has pulled it off again to retain its top spot as the ‘Best Performing Big State Overall’, in ‘India Today’s 19th annual ‘State of States (SoS) Survey’, the News Magazine has published in its latest Special Issue, December 6, 2021. The India Today Group’s annual survey on the performance of all the States has emerged as an alluring and critical benchmark ever since it began measuring the governance and outcome of each state on an annual basis since 2003. The SoS “has remained the most accurate annual report card of how the different states of India are doing,” it emphasizes. The State’s ‘All Round Development’ is assessed based on 12 parameters: Economy, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Health, Education, Law & Order, Governance, Inclusive Development, Entrepreneurship, Tourism, Environment and Cleanliness. “This year (2021), we have added a 13th parameter ‘The Happiness Index’, says Aroon Purie, Editor-In-Chief of ‘India Today’. Judged by the above parameters, Tamil Nadu has retained the top spot among the ‘best performing big states of India’ for the fourth year in a row.
