The concept of inequality has many dimensions. While speaking of inequality in India, it is possible to describe it in terms of inequality of access and opportunities; in terms of inequality of incomes and assets as well as in terms of inequality in social terms. Even within this, it is possible to make interstate comparisons, or delving deeper, into intra state comparisons, and digging deeper still, into comparisons between communities within the state.
