Melbourne came to life as usual on New Year eve. Omicron, the new variant of Covid-19 posed fresh challenges but that did not deter the coastal capital of the southeastern Australian State from celebrating the world-famous New Year Eve. The hustle and bustle, accompanied by spectacular fireworks displays, hardly drew to a close when the city came alive again for another carnival - the Australian Open – the annual prestigious Tennis tournament.
