CM Stalin Launches Web Portals and Tamil Computing Software

Marking a significant milestone, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin inaugurated two Web Portals, ‘e-Munnetram’ and ‘IT Nanban’, at the Secretariat in Chennai on October 22, developed by the State Information Technology department. The Chief Minister on the occasion also released two Tamil Computing Software, ‘Keezhadi Keyboard’ and ‘Tamizhi-Tamizhinayam Unicode Converter’. The Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNEGA), has developed the portal, ‘e-Munnetram’ (https:// emunnetram.tn.gov.in) for reviewing the progress of all major infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu, according to an official release. A high-level committee chaired by the Chief Secretary periodically monitors the progress of about 200 major infrastructure projects, involving a total capital outlay of more than Rs. One lakh crore. Hence, their periodic monitoring will be aided by this portal. The portal allows Heads of Departments to update the progress periodically, flag critical issues and causes for delay if any, the release said. The second portal ‘IT Nanban’ which the Chief Minister launched is in the context of the target set to attain US Dollars One trillion digital economy by 2025. While Tamil Nadu’s exports from Information Technology (IT) and ITES sector has been growing at a rate of ten per cent year-on-year, the TNEGA has conceptualized this platform ‘IT Nanban’ to engage with the IT industry and help to leverage its opportunities. This initiative will enable all IT/ITES companies in Tamil Nadu to interact with the State Government and contribute to policy making.
