TIIC’s Role in Building 1 Trillion US Dollar Economy

The more than seven-decade old Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation Limited (TIIC), a pioneer among the State Financial Corporations, has been focusing on catering to the financial needs of Industries, especially first generation entrepreneurs in the State. More than 90 percent of TIIC’s assistance goes to the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector and 40 percent of its total assistance goes to first generation entrepreneurs. TIIC, being the strategic arm of the government for industrial development, had been playing a pivotal role in the revival and rejuvenation of the MSMEs in the state. If the vision of TIIC 1.O (1949-2021), laid the foundation of the Industrial Development of Tamil Nadu, the vision 2.O (2021 and beyond) aimed to leverage technology, foster industry partnerships, partnerships with new age financial institutions and position itself as the Growth Catalyst of the state. “This strategy will enable TIIC to differentiate itself from the crowded and ultra-competitive marketplace with the clear messaging that TIIC is not a mere lender. We are beyond that and we treat every single customer as a deemed Joint Venture partner in whose long term and sustainable success TIIC will always be intrested in,” said Mr Hans Raj Verma, Chairman and Managing Director,TIIC. He said with a vision ‘to be a viable and vibrant financial institution committed to serving Industries in Tamil Nadu’, TIIC has launched 2.O vision for Industrial development and for realizing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s vision of a 1 Trillion USD Economy by 2030. TIIC is also working towards a mission to work closely with the state government and other central agencies to channelize appropriate incentives and services for the development of MSMEs and to become the preferred destination for seeking term finance in the state, he said. During the Covid-19 pandemic period, TIIC has stepped in to support the MSMEs with liberal disbursement of loans. During 2020-21, TIIC had sanctioned a total loan of Rs 1,303 crore and disbursed Rs 849 crore to 1,320 portfolios. During 2021-22, TIIC has sanctioned a total loan of Rs 2,570 crore and so far disbursed Rs 2,140 crore to 2,500 portfolios, recording a quantum jump....
